At the age of sixteen Matt went on to compete in USASA Half-Pipe Nationals. At this event he took home fourth place representing the Mid-Atlantic region. This even stamped his name into the professional network of snowboarding. Matt then moved to Mt. Hood, Oregon and started working with Windells Snowboard Camp. Several companies turned Matt pro at the age of nineteen and he went on to film and compete professionally for the next ten years. While riding professionally, Matt traveled to some of the world’s best snowboard camps including High Cascade, Windells, Camp of Champions, and Woodward at Copper as guest coach. While working with these camps, Matt found his passion for coaching and decided to join the Woodward at Copper team as a coach, where he assisted in developing new progressions for snowboarding and skiing on trampolines. Matt has worked with every level of snowsports athletes from beginners to Olympic medalists. With Matt’s pro experience attacking every type of terrain from backcountry to freestyle, he has been able to develop his teaching technique, creating a more professional learning experience for those snowboarders trying to progress.
